Address:
9650 24th Bay Street, Virginia 23518
Description:

We're holding our 5th annual Plein Air art festival in Ocean View from April 22-26th this year. 20 artists, some local, others regional, some nationally known, will arrive to paint "en plein air", or out in the elements, in and around Ocean View for 3 days. Last year's award-winning artists will hold workshop classes during the festival, and there will be a benefit party Saturday night, followed by a public art show on Sunday.

Funds raised during the event are used to support art in Ocean View. The 2019 event raised $25,000, and we're working with Norfolk Public Arts to place a sculpture in Ocean View Beach Park. Proceeds from the 2020 event will be donated to the Ocean View rec center to fund a summer art camp and to Norfolk Public Arts for additional public art.

The Coastal VA Plein Air Art Festival is the brainchild of Monica Johnson. Monica works with Mary Vinson and Joanne Taylor and a large group of dedicated volunteers to create a fun event that results in lots of beautiful paintings of our area. We believe that art is for everyone, and that every person, regardless of one's age or life experience, can be touched by the beauty, imagination, and benefits of art.

We welcome your participation as an artist, sponsor, or volunteer. Please contact us at CoastalVAPleinAir@gmail.com.
